Lionel Messi has finished outside of the top three in the Ballon D’or list for the first time in 12 years after he was declared as the fifth best footballer in the World today during the French football award otherwise known as Ballon D’or.

Although the five times Ballon D’or winner had a terrible World cup campaign in Russia as his national side were eliminated in the second round of the competition but he had a stellar campaign in his club.
